Jovenes SANOS visited the State Capitol while participating at ENACT Day 2014 in Sacramento hosted by the Prevention Institute, working on issues around food, activity, and healthy equity! Advocating for a healthy CA Utilizing our voices for the good of all!
United Way Worldwide
United Way Worldwide visited Jovenes SANOS and our local Watsonville community in April. They spent the day filming with us in order to highlight the work we are accomplishing around increasing access to healthy food. We are excited to be heading to Washington DC to see the premier!
Welcome back Gabby Sanchez! Gabby has been working on her Community Studies degree at UCSC and will be completing her first year in May. We are happy to have her back working alongside us, advocating for change, and bringing so much to our group!
Institute of Medicine
In April Joe and Kym traveled to LA to present and participate in a panel on youth engagement and population health with the Institute of a Medicine! We are incredibly honored and proud of our work to have received such national recognition!

JS was honored to speak last week in Sacramento at the California Department of Public Health: California Tobacco Control Program's 2014 Project Director's Meeting. We spoke on, "Purposeful Youth Engagement for Effective Public Health Campaigns" our youth Speaker, Jose Vasquez did a phenomenal job! Julian Alcantar opened up the session for us sharing his personal success experience as a Jovenes SANOS member.
